The Mary Hart Attack

The Mary Hart Attack, a belgium based shoegaze / post punk band

TMHA arose in 2013 from the recording of the credit roll track of the documentary ‘Cells’.
After the studio recording the trio decided to continue working together.
The band name refers to a psychological condition that 80’s TV babe Mary Hart induces in susceptible viewers.
TMHA is basically a modern day post-punk band with leanings towards shoegaze, indie and noise.

The EP “A Dark Green Light” was their first exploit. It came out on limited cassette on “Oddie Records”.

Een betonnen muur van geluid. Ondoordringbaar, onzichtbaar. The Mary Hart Attack trekt met zijn snoeiharde sound een verdedigingswerk op waar het Nederlands voetbalelftal u tegen kan zeggen. Als in trance staat het Belgische trio op het podium. Een kunst om de heren te kunnen zien, want de rookmachine maakt overuren en het witte felle licht is verblindend. Maar ondanks de allesvernietigende aanval blijken de zuiderburen behalve hard ook virtuoos te kunnen spelen. Geen geluidsbrij waarin je de gitaar, de basgitaar en de drums nauwelijks kunt onderscheiden, maar een goede mix. De composities zitten goed in elkaar waardoor de duisternis in de teksten en het overdonderende karakter van de muziek goed naar voren komen. Een kunst op zich. Van de ep ‘A Dark Green Light’ wordt het titelnummer gespeeld. Snelle, spacious gitaarriffs, in een moordend tempo. De psychedelica heeft een hallucinerende werking. (HB)”

The music had deafening guitars (think of The Jesus and Mary Chain) and a sound that can be situated somewhere between A Place To Bury Strangers and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. It sounded dirty, menacing, poignant and melodic. Exactly how rock’n’roll should sound!”
